30-09-2026 • 7:00 PM — 8:00 PM
Join us online from 7:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday 21 September for a one-hour demonstration of CORE — the Community Organising Resource Ecosystem that runs behind fairfaxmatters.org.au.
CORE is a non-profit social enterprise built by and for Australian community groups (coreaustralia.org.au). It gives grassroots organisations like ours professional-grade tools that were once only available to the major parties, in one integrated platform: our public website, our supporter database, our email and SMS communications, and our volunteer organising tools.
What we'll show you
- The website and CRM working together — how a sign-up, petition signature, event registration or donation on the website flows straight into the supporter database, with automated workflows behind the scenes.
- Communications — mass email with A/B testing, two-way SMS, and how we segment messages by hub, interest and activity.
- Hubs and hub managers — how volunteers are organised into local hubs, each with its own mailing list and a hub manager who can create shifts and log hours for their area without needing full access to the whole database.
- Organising tools — volunteer rostering, booth and door-knock shift management, contact mapping, and the 40+ reporting dashboards we use to see what is working.
- The CORE Action field app — the mobile app volunteers carry: taking call and text jobs from a pool, walk lists for door-knocking with one-tap result recording, volunteer opportunity sign-up, chats and task lists.
First look: the next release
The upcoming release of the Action App introduces the Hub Manager Command Center — mobile comms, event check-in and task assignment in one place. It turns the field app into something a hub manager runs the day from, not just something volunteers carry: message your team, check people in as they arrive at a stall or door-knock, and hand out tasks on the spot from your phone.
Who should come
Hub leads, volunteers, committee members, and anyone curious about how a community independent campaign is organized. No technical background needed — bring your questions.
