Our Committee
We’re a group of passionate Sunshine Coast locals who love where we live and want our politics to serve and inspire our community. We believe that decades of being ignored as a ‘safe seat’ have left our community under-served and unheard, and as a result we’re not reaching our potential.
So from the Hinterland to the Coast, we’re getting together in living rooms, pubs, cafes, surf clubs and more to find out what matters most to the people of Fairfax, while building a movement for a more ambitious, positive, representative politics that delivers for us.
Linda Taylor
(Buderim / Maroochydore hub)
A public policy expert with 30 years of experience working across industry, government and the education sectors, Linda managed the State Government’s India and Middle East Desks, building networks internationally to attract investment to New South Wales. A Churchill Fellowship winner who studied industry-research collaboration and commercialisation between Australia and India. She recently retired to the Fairfax Electorate and is passionate about integrity in politics.
Hugh Butler
(Treasurer)
Hugh was never involved in political groups. Until the community independent movement showed “people not parties” was a viable choice.
Starting with an AgSc career in science and science management, followed by 30 years of multiple businesses including IT data communications, 30 years in multiple business startups in areas as diverse as medical devices, solar and marine biology. Focused on evidence-based solutions to our society. A published author with non-fiction books on health, renewable energy, nuclear, and how AI will transform our modern society. 30 years of living on the Coast provides a pragmatic approach to community politics and business.
Frances Chegwidden (Eumundi Hub)
Frances leads the Eumundi hub, and is also leading our focus for the over 65s – our Elders Matters. Elders in Fairfax are often forgotten and their voices are not heard.
Annie Nolan
(Coolum Hub)
Annie is an experienced EHS/Sustainability Manager across a variety of sectors, including heavy manufacturing and mining, government, education, private consultancies and the not-for-profit sector. With postgraduate qualifications in Business Management, Carbon Accounting, Sustainability, and OHS, and now in a PhD program, Annie uses her facilitation skills in workshops, strategy development, and adult teaching environments. She is passionate to assist businesses in reducing their environmental footprint and improving their bottom line — and wants a better political environment.
Our committee is made up of passionate local residents who want politics with integrity and a care for our local community.
There is a place for you. In community activities. In listening to others and contributing to policies we want for our community. Join us today.
